A wedge set built around flexibility
The UNCO Tree Felling Wedges set is a four-piece kit for helping manage tree-felling cuts, bucking, splitting, and firewood work. Instead of supplying one wedge size, it includes two 5.5-inch wedges and two 8-inch wedges. That size mix is the central buying angle: it gives a user more options when a particular cut calls for a smaller starting wedge or a larger wedge for additional leverage.
What This Product Is Designed For
UNCO lists these wedges for tree felling, bucking logs, wood splitting, and firewood tasks. In those situations, a wedge can be driven into a cut to help maintain space in the wood and provide leverage. The supplied information describes the set as suitable for professional forestry and personal outdoor work, though the right use still depends on the user’s experience, cutting plan, and the specific tree or log involved.
What Stands Out
The practical advantage here is not just the number of wedges, but the combination of sizes. Having two small and two large pieces can make it easier to keep multiple wedges available during a job rather than relying on a single format. The serrated edges are designed to reduce slipping once a wedge is driven into the log, while the included carry bag gives the set a defined place in a chainsaw, firewood, or outdoor-tool kit.
Key Features Explained
- Two wedge lengths: The package contains two 5.5-inch wedges and two 8-inch wedges. This provides a choice of sizes instead of limiting the buyer to one wedge profile.
- ABS plastic construction: UNCO identifies the wedges as impact-resistant ABS plastic. This is an important material detail for shoppers deciding between plastic and metal wedge formats.
- Serrated gripping edges: The supplied product information says the serrations are intended to help prevent a wedge from slipping out during use.
- Carry bag included: The bag is intended to make transport and storage simpler, especially for buyers who want to keep the four wedges together.
Who It’s Best For
This package may be relevant to homeowners who process firewood, DIY users clearing or cutting trees on their property, and workers who want a compact selection of wedge sizes in one kit. It may also appeal to buyers who prefer plastic wedges for chainsaw-related work. The set is less aligned with shoppers who already know they need metal wedges, since the supplied material is ABS plastic.
Things to Consider Before Buying
- These are plastic wedges: The product uses ABS plastic, not metal. Material preference can be a deciding factor depending on the buyer’s intended work.
- Durability feedback is mixed: Supplied customer feedback is generally positive about the wedges’ functionality and sturdy plastic construction, but durability reports vary. Some customers reported deformation over time or under force, while others reported no deformation during use.
- Size selection matters: The set offers 5.5-inch and 8-inch wedges. Buyers should consider whether those supplied sizes fit the trees, logs, and cutting tasks they expect to handle.
How It Compares
Compared with buying a single-size wedge, this kit offers a mixed selection of four wedges and a carry bag. Compared with metal wedge formats, the key distinction is its ABS plastic construction. The supplied customer feedback includes comments from users who appreciated plastic in chainsaw-related situations, while another customer specifically noted needing metal instead. That makes material preference more useful than a blanket comparison.
ANICOM Verdict
The UNCO set is a straightforward option for buyers who want multiple tree-felling wedge sizes in a single bagged kit. Its main practical strengths are the two-size assortment, serrated edges, and ABS plastic construction. Before buying, consider whether plastic is the material you want and keep the mixed customer durability feedback in mind for demanding or repeated use.
